Famasloop originally sought to create pop music. However, as they were later inspired by the beauty and contradictions of Caracas, Venezuela, they created a new genre of their own instead– “Cucú Pop”, which the band describes as ‘too weird to be pop, and too pop to be weird.’
Famasloop was nominated for the Latin Grammy in 2013 for best music video for “Mas Cerquita”, which was directed by Marcel Rasquin and was the main song for the soundtrack to the movie “Piedra, Papel o Tijera” directed by Hernán Jabes.
The rest is more than just a good story; it is the ideal introduction for those who make child’s play out of their music, since they live in a reality where no one knows if it’s peace or war. Their songs play hide and seek but they play with guns.
The members of Famasloop recount “How in Puerto La Cruz, the National Guard tried to detain them for having bubble guns and from that point on, those bubble guns became an essential part of the show, because against censorship, the imagination of the Venezuelan people is like a an old dried animal skin, if you step on it on one end, the other end lifts up”.
Famasloop is an audiovisual experience that reflects their desire to do things differently and involving their audience, a quality that allows them to get involved in projects like their current promotional track, “Allí Estas” which will be launched in the United States, Mexico and Colombia,
Today, their music, lyrics and art reflect who they are with their present album, La Quema (2012), and the album that marks the beginning of what is to come for Famasloop.
In March 2015, Famasloop will be traveling to the United States for a promotional tour that will take them to Miami, Arizona, California and an appearance at the SXSW festival in Austin, TX to showcase their song “Allí Estas” which is a peek into their new album which will be called Las Cenizas and will be available shortly.
