Spanish singer Vega has just released a new single off of her Wolverines album. The new single is titled “¡Que No Te Pese!” which is a slightly different version from the album as it includes a duet with Mexican singer Carla Morrison.
To find out more about this collaboration between Vega and Carla Morrison and her recent U.S. tour, we spoke to Vega via telephone all the way to Spain.
Al Borde – How did this collaboration with Carla Morrison come about?
Vega – I met Carla some time ago at the Latin Grammy ceremony when I was nominated for my previous album, La Cuenta Atras and she was presenting one of the Grammy awards, my friend and producer Sebastian Krys introduced us and later on we met up again at a benefit concert and I was blown away by her voice and when we were thinking of this new single, we got in touch with her and told her that we thought her voice would be perfect for this song and she agreed to do it.
Tell us about the recording process.
When we were in Los Angeles during our U.S. Tour, after our show at Los Globos we went down the border into Mexico and Carla opened up her house to us where we recorded this duet and we really had a great time, we enjoyed it a lot and from the very first moment there was a great connection and I am very happy with this collaboration.
I understand you have yet to play in Mexico, are there plans to play in Mexico any time soon?
No, we have not had the chance to play in Mexico yet and we really want to do it, almost every day we get messages from fans in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and other Latin American countries and Latinos in the U.S. asking when we are coming to play in their town. For us Spaniards, Mexico is like a musical Mecca and if you are successful there, then you can use it a springboard to the rest of Latin America, so having Carla Morrison by our side, we think it’s a great way to introduce our music to Mexico and beyond.
Tell us about your first U.S. Tour a few months ago.
We actually miss it very much, a few days ago we premiered a video that we shot during our travels on route 66 on tour trip from Austin, TX to Los Angeles and it was great to relive those moments in which we discovered such different environments, different kinds of people and audiences, so we definitely want to go back and we are hoping that by the end of the year we can tour there again.
