 Siddhartha

Siddhartha, the indie rock soloist musician revealed the dates for the 3 concerts that will take place in California in December.

Siddhartha is one of Mexico’s most promising and renowned artists who has earned the media and audiences’ respect. Being originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Siddhartha has released two records which have earned him several awards and multiple nominations. The California concerts will take place at Los Globos in Los Angeles, on December 5, at Creek Side Bar in San Jose, on December 6, and at Audie’s in Fresno, on December 7.

Siddhartha’s musical history has been a long one. Some of its highlights are his collaboration as drummer for the group Zoé during their “The Room” tour and the recording of “Memo Rex Commander” and “Corazón de la Vía Láctea.” He is now participating as producer of the bands Technicolor Fabrics and Caloncho.

To learn a little more about Siddhartha and his new album, we spoke to him last week and here is some what we talked about.

How do you feel about your upcoming performances in California?

“We had wanted to play in California, but had not had the opportunity, and this will be the closing of the  cycle for my second album, “Naufragos” and we hope to come back again soon with all the new material from the new album”

Do you miss working in a band?

“Not really, I enjoyed being in bands, but now I enjoy not having to fight over ideas but this project is very demanding, I have the responsibility of 5 different people, but at the same time I am enjoying composing, producing, and interpreting the songs by myself, and I am learning a lot and it is a very rewarding experience.”

Having just completed your third solo album, how do you feel you have evolved as a musician?

“I think it’s an unending search, there’s always something new to listen to, new things to learn and I would like to think that each album is better than the last one, not that the previous ones were not good, but you always want to be different and take each new project as a stepping stone for the next project.”

On the new single, “El Aire”, there seems to be a bit more of electronic sounds than on previous songs, is this an indication of what we can expect on the new album?

”Not necessarily, each song is its own complete piece, and when you put all the pieces together it makes up the puzzle, I like to play with different sounds and although there may be some more synthesizers, there are also lots of guitars.”

Siddhartha will release his third record at the beginning of 2014 and recently made the debut of “El Aire”, the new album’s first single which is available in all digital stores.
