De La Tierra, the latest band emerging from the metal scene, is composed of veterans of the music community. It all began some eight years ago in Argentina where Alex Gonzalez (drummer of Maná), Andres Gimenez (lead vocalist of D-mente), Andreas Kisser (member of Sepultura), and Sr. Flavio (from Argentine ska band Fabulosos Cadillacs) tossed around the idea in a casual conversation.

But it wasn’t until last December that the musicians formalized the band by each publicizing it through their individual Twitter profiles. As a side project to their current bands, De La Tierra will be spearheaded into a direction where Spanish rock metal meets The Clash meets Rush meets Metallica meets 80’s metal.

Currently, the band is riding indie, as most bands often do during the first months of formation. On their agenda is to first release one full-length album, and allow the success and response of that experience determine the next step. In true rocker spirit, De La Tierra plans do whatever it wants, whenever it wants.

And although their constant travels prevent them from working the album in the traditional form, they’re using email to toss demos and tracks to one another. they have lyrics and song demos, and they will be recording later this year in Buenos Aires. Once ready to record, the band plans to take it back to where it all began: Argentina, and support its release with a tour that will take De La Tierra’s metal to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, and Los Angeles.
