
Debuting a new repertoire, which is scheduled to be released within the next few months, Ozomatli will perform a special benefit concert on April 15th at the Pasadena Playhouse with a portion of the proceeds going towards the Playhouse’s Wells Fargo Theatrical Diversity Project, an organization that was built on the legacy of artistic and theatrical diversity.
A limited number of VIP tickets are available and include a “Cafe con Ozo” meet and greet with the band where fans can enjoy a cup of Ozomatli’s Ozo Espresso, courtesy of Zona Rosa Cafe.
Throughout their career, which began in 1995 and has garnered the band worldwide recognition, Ozomatli has established its self as a band that lends its talent and music to worthy causes. The band frequently performs at schools for under privileged students, and is an active voice in the community. Such that it has been recognized by the National Council of LA Raza with its Humanitarian Award and has been invited to perform for President Barack Obama.
The band was also invited by the U.S. State Department to serve as official Cultural Ambassadors on government-sponsored international tours to Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East. In Countries like Tunisia, Egypt, Indian, Jordan and Nepal, Ozomatli not only played rousing free concerts but also offered musical workshops and master classes, visited arts centers, summer camps, youth rehabilitation centers and a Palestinian refugee camp.
With its performance for the Wells Fargo Theatrical Diversity Project, the band hopes to raise funds to promote tolerance through the Pasadena Playhouse’s various projects.
