Interview with No Te Va Gustar
Al Borde – What can we expect from your new album, which will be available next month in October?
NTVG – Even though this is the shortest album we’ve recorded, it is a very important one for us since it was such an incredible experience. It was recorded as if we were playing live, and we got to record it all together at the same time; allowing us to spend time feeding off each other while doing so. Sometimes the recording of an album can be somewhat stressful and traumatic when things just don’t flow. But we had a lot of fun on this one, since the sounds, concepts, and subjects are very mixed and different from before. I’m sure they dynamics amongst the group will manifest in its sound.
No te va gustar first single from this album called “Comodin”, talks about not being taken advantage of in a relationship and the video has a very fun 70s theme to it, tell us about the song and the filming of the video.
The song talks about standing up for yourself and not settling, which most people can identify with. We wanted throw a more positive vibe with the video and represent bands from that era, so we went with a 70s game show theme. We’re not used to doing this, but we had a lot of fun doing it, and discovered that there are quite a few great actors in our group and wearing those wigs was pure comedy (giggles in the background).
You’re about to launch a tour which will include more stops in the US, what are you looking forward to as a band, and what can your fans expect from No Te Va Gustar?
After working so hard on the album, it’s time to work hard on the tour. We are excited to be in the US longer than in our last tour. We can get to know the fans and the culture better. We plan on giving the public some variety; including the old songs, not just the new ones. We have to give the fans what they want after all and what a better way to celebrate our anniversary than making music, spend it time with our fans and just doing what we love.
The No Te Va Gustar album will be available in October and will be announcing their US tour dates shortly.
