When Curanderos’ front man Mario Lomar Lopez Jr. passed away earlier this year, his family, friends and fans were shocked by his sudden death. Among them was Jermaine Zavala, vocalist and guitarist of Los Angeles based alternative rock band La Theoria, who not only shared the stage with Mario on occasion, but that was also one of his closest friends. When an event was organized to raise funds for Mario’s family, Jermaine was among the musicians who performed in the tribute.

This Friday at El Gallo Plaza in Los Angeles, the La Theoria member will once again pay tribute to his friend, who died on June 21, 2012 due to an aneurysm. Playing an acoustic set during Al Borde’s Day of the Dead Music & Art Festival, Jermaine will perform a few songs from the Curanderos repertoire, many of which where written by Mario.

The acoustic tribute to Mario Lomar Lopez Jr. from Curanderos will begin at 8:50 p.m. and will set the stage for headlining band Santoros. Attendees of all ages are welcomed.

Although it had been previously publicized, Los Despiertos will no longer take part of the free Day of the Dead event.

Don’t miss the acoustic tribute and RSVP here, today.
