Panda: US Tour '09

Mexican punk-rock band, Panda, will hit the states come mid August as part of their US ’09 Tour. The quartet, who for the past few months was slaving away adding finishing touches to their upcoming 5th album release, Poetics, will be visiting San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, New York, Houston and Los Angeles to promote their new work. Beginning August 19th at San Fran’s The Fillmore, Panda fans will get to hear the band’s new material that follows their 2007 Amantes Sunt Amentes release. The August 19th date marks the kick off to this extensive tour that will have the band touring the states for the entire month of August before heading back to Mexico to continue the four-month tour.

According to the band’s official Web page, Poetics is a dual album consisting of 20 songs that mark a change in the band’s method of composing and arranging their music. Poetics was arranged through sessions of email swapping from member to member using various computer applications to tweak and twine each song. Prior to taking the material into the recording studio, each of the 20 songs was re produced a total of three times in order to refine both the lyrics and the music. According to the band, Poetics is the most intensive and technological production thus far.

The first single from Poetics, which was revealed during the band’s recent concert in their native Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, is titled “Solo a Terceros” and to date has only been played on Mexican airwaves. Nonetheless, you can catch a glimpse of the band performing the song  right here on alborde.com.
