Nana Pancha drummer, Hugo Monter, dies in accident

More details of the accident that claimed the life of Hugo Monter Castillo, drummer of Nana Pancha, are surfacing. According to a statement released by the band through its Facebook page, the accident took place this past Sunday evening in Jalisco, Mexico. The band was returning from performing at a festival when the incident took place.

Nana Pancha had performed at the Estrella Weekend 2012 festival along with El Gran Silencio, Sekta Core and other ska bands, when a few of the musicians decided to get together for an “after”. Hugo stayed back to catch the performance of Easy Star All Stars.

As the night grew older, band members realized that Hugo had not returned. It was then that they set out to find him only to be faced with news that he had been a victim of a hit and run. Hugo died on his way to the hospital.

The band had just celebrated its 15th year trajectory. Hugo leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter, family, friends, and hundreds of fans in mourning.
