2010 marks the 11th year of production for one of the few enduring events whose focus is solely cutting edge Latin music, the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC). Come July 6th through July 10th, the LAMC will take New York’s Roosevelt Hotel hostage to welcome musicians, artists, and key industry players alike.
As with previous conferences, the ’10 LAMC will include industry panels, artist showcases, art exhibits, film screenings, and the popular Central Park Summer Stage concert –which are FREE. LAMC 2010 will also feature its “Artist Discovery Program” where “diamond in the rough” acts have previously earned a place among the select group of Latin Alternative greats. Kinky and the now-defunct Los Abandoned are two of the bands that have benefited from that program. Past LAMC performers include the likes of Ely Guerra, Molotov, Monareta, Alex Cuba and locals Go Betty Go.
Although the final LAMC schedule, panel topics and more info is in the works, registration to this year’s conference is now open at a rate of $99. While we wait for the LAMC weekend, check out last year’s highlights right here on AlBorde.com.
