Recently nominated for a “Best Alternative Artist” award for the Latin American VMA’s, Mexican quintet Kinky is giving it to ya’ for free come Sunday, September 20th. Kinky is set to perform at the California Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles as part of the Vive Mexico Festival LA, a weeklong event in celebration of the 199th year of Mexican Independence, which features a series of showcases promoting Mexican culture through opera, music, theatre and film.
The Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, The Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) and The Baja California Cultural Institute are presenting the five-day celebration which kicks off on the 16th of September (Mexican Independence Day) with an opening reception at the consulate, followed by the first of ten free theatre performances that make up the theatrical portion of the program. Both the musical and theatrical performances will take place throughout the Los Angeles area at venues such as Colburn School of Music’s Zipper Hall, Hancock Park, California Plaza, the Mexican Consulate, 24th Street Theatre and at The LATC Theatre.
