Love it or hate it electro pop is slowly but steadily making its way into the mainstream radio airwaves, y de los antros ni se diga… apparently electro is the new pop, so long Timbaland schmuck. If you don’t know about this band, don’t even trip… you’ve probably danced to one of their songs without even realizing it. Aunque no parezca, Jupiter Rising have been around for quite some time… tanto así que lo que pareciera su debut album is surprisingly none other than their third. “The Quiet Hype” is anything but quiet… sure it has some slow jams here and there, but nothing too corny or sluggish. Jupiter Rising deliver a surprisingly good electro pop album for the masses… however, when you set out to purchase this album you have to keep an open mind and ignore the ghastly cover… the picture and the colors simply scream plastic brainless bubblegum pop, pero es todo lo contrario… if you enjoy Belanova then this is set to become one of your fave albums.
The Quiet Hype
Overall, Jupiter Rising does a great job at piecing together an album that’s pretty much listenable from beginning ‘til end without the need of recurring to the “skip” button.
Even though its an electro pop album in essence, Jupiter Rising explore more genres than that… way more… not only do Jessie Payo and Spencer Nezey utilize electro elements on “The Quiet Hype”, they keep things rolling with some club bangers and they dabble in some pop, rock, hip-hop, a bit of folk, punk, downtempo, drum’n’bass and even some M.I.A. style baile funk.
Forget the Energizer bunny, with “The Quiet Hype”, Jupiter Rising are ready to make some noise and keep the party going and going and going and going.
The Quiet Hype Outstanding Traxx: L.A. Girls, When The Bass Drops, Tres Cool, Falling Away, Flip My Switch.
