After several critically acclaimed albums, Enrique Bunbury has been nominated for a Latin Grammy in the “Best Long Form Music Video” category for his short film “Licenciado Cantinas: The Movie”, which is based on his 2011 album release of the same name.

As in previous collaborations, Enrique Bunbury trusted his ideas to the imagination of Spanish director Alexis Morante, whom he first worked with for the soundtrack of the award winning short film “Matador on the Road” where Enrique sings a cover of “Vamonos” from Mexican icon Jose Alfredo Jimenez.

Since then, Enrique has worked with Morante to direct the videos for “Los Habitantes” and “De todo el Mundo” from the album Las Cosecuencias. Morante also directed “Animas que no Amanezca”, “Llevame” and “Odiame” from Licencidado Cantinas.

In “Licenciado Cantinas: The Movie”, which is a 26-minute epic film that takes the main character of Licenciado Cantinas (played by Bunbury) through various phases, Morante and team let their imaginations run wild to create a virtual and fatalistic view of the end of the world as foretold by Mayan priests.

During the Grammy Museum’s Spotlight program in which Bunbury participated in a Q&A session and intimate performance, the singer was asked how he felt about the nomination. Enrique responded by stating that the all the credit is due to Morante because without his vision “there would not have been a nomination”.

The 2012 Latin Grammy awards ceremony takes place on November 15th in Las Vegas.
