2012 was a good year for El Sonido Callejero. With their first album in hand, El Sonido Callejero (2012), the Latin rock band toured the U.S. with Panteón Rococó, lit up the stages as opening band for Celso Piña and Inspector, and was part of the House of Blues’ first-ever Latin Alternative Fest.
Now, the band, which was founded by “El Director” Hernandez and is lead by Sargento Susej, plans to begin the year with the release of a 6-track EP titled La Fuerza Humana. The new material is scheduled to see the light of iTunes by the end of this week with its tangible sibling out in March.
With a message of breaking down barriers and the union of communities, the band focused La Fuerza Humana on its lyrical content. According to El Director, the EP’s musical approach remains true to the band’s fusion of Latin music, reggae, rock, and hip hop.
Although El Sonido Callejero is not playing at this year’s Vive Latino, the band does plan to take advantage of the momentum the festival creates around Mexico City. For this, El Director and Sargento Susej have both confirmed a March 2013 promotional tour to Mexico City in support of La Fuerza Humana.
