It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost four years since U2’s last album and two years since the U2 360° Tour, which resulted in the highest grossing concert tour in history with $736 million made from tickets sales. But since the band’s last release, fans have been able to live off of the rumors of a new U2 album being in the works.

Just recently, those rumors were confirmed by U2’s band camp as they stated that the band is in the studio and that they’ve been working on several projects with different producers.

In a recent interview with RTÉ, a radio station in Dublin Ireland, U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr. also confirmed that the band hopes to release the new material by September of 2013. Mullen also commented that the band is collaborating with producer Danger Mouse and denied the rumors of them working with Will.i.am.

Based on U2’s history, it’s anyone guess what direction the new album will take. But as proven in the past, U2 always finds a way to reinvent itself and make fans fall in love with their music all over again.
