Te para Tres

The Emmy nominated TV show, Te Para Tres, in conjunction with Starbucks, recently launched a free in-store acoustic concert series called “Noches Culturales”, hosted by Emmy nominated Pili Montilla. This concert series consists of seven shows in five different cities across the U.S.

The idea behind “Noches Culturales” is to showcase local musicians and bringing the community together to celebrate traditions. As part of the show, Pili also conducts interviews with the artists and holds a short Q & A session with the audience.

The first show of the series was held on January 25th at the Starbucks on 6th and Spring in the heart of down town Los Angeles. The amazing voice of Irene Diaz was given the task of kicking off the series which was an outstanding success musically and an equally successful response by the music lovers of Los Angeles who filled up the store to its capacity.

For the second event, on January 30th, at the same location in downtown L.A., the Colombian duo based in Los Angeles, Palenke Soultribe, gave a riveting semi-acoustic performance with the collaboration of special guest, Mr. Vallenato, who gave the music that extra special touch with his mastery on the accordion and the cumbia and vallenato sounds had people from all walks of life and different nationalities dancing together creating a real sense of community, which is exactly what “Noches Culturales” was meant to be.

The next show in the series is this Thursday February 6th in San Diego at the Starbucks on 595 H Street with Cuevo. Followed by David Garza in San Antonio, TX on Thursday February 13th; Gio Chamba in Houston, TX on Wednesday February 19th and the last two shows will be held in Miami, FL with Elastic Bond on February 25th and Periko & Jessi Leon on the 27th.

Te Para Tres with Pili Montilla has been characterized by taking the usual artist interview out of its usual, somewhat predictable format and has taken the audience into the artists’ homes, different locations and even backstage before performances.   Having this concert series at different Starbuck locations fits in perfectly with the philosophy of the show and we just hope that there will be more events like “Noches Culturales”  in the near future, as this is a great way for local artists to showcase their talents to different audiences.
