Argentine singer, Natalia Clavier has been better known as the long-time live voice of Thievery Corporation, but with the release of her second solo album ‘Lumen’, which debuted at #1 on iTunes Alternativo charts, is now taking center stage with an album full of love, lust, adventure and eclectic sounds that go from funk, dance, jazz, electronic and Latin sounds and all adorned with Natalia’s beautiful soulful voice.

Growing up in Argentina, Natalia grew up with the sounds of jazz, classical music, American rock and soul, and of course, the sounds and lyrics of Argentinean folk and Latin American pop.

Natalia moved to Barcelona where she spent eight years in the intimate jazz circuit as well as singing in front of thousands of people at raves where she lent her voice to dance singles.  While in Barcelona, Natalia met fellow Argentinean singer/songwriter Federico Aubele with whom she married and worked on her first album “Nectar” in 2008.

The couple moved to Brooklyn, NY to work on Federico’s second album “Panamerica”.  Federico’s album was released through ESL Records, which was Thievery Corporation’s record company and in 2007, when Thievery Corporation was looking for a female voice for their live performances, Natalia offered to audition and was hired on the spot.

Natalia Clavier’s first album, “Nectar”, released in 2008, reflected the place and time in her life in Barcelona with a more jazzy and relaxed sound, but for this new production, “Lumen”, Natalia’s surroundings come forth through her music as this album has the sounds and urgency of the faster paced environment and melting pot of cultures and musical influences of the big apple.

“Lumen” was produced by Grammy Award winner Adrian Quesada and also brought in his own band, The Echocentrics, for the song “Adios!”, a cover of cult Turkish singer Selda Bagcan, which makes for one of the most interesting song on the album as it takes you into a musical voyage through time and cultures, as one can hear psychedelic sounds with a middle eastern vibe.

Another highlight from this album is “Trouble” which will become her first music video.  Trouble has that funky, jazzy feel of New York dance music, with an amazing trombone solo and bass line and drum beats will get you moving from the very first beat.
