Cypress Hill and Guerrilla Union join forces again to bring back the long anticipated Smokeout Festival, a festival that fuses rock, hip-hop, alternative, Spanish rock, reggae, ska, metal, punk, electronic and dance music in one event. The date is set for Saturday March 3, 2012 at the NOS Event Center in San Bernardino.
Rock En Español pioneers Cafe Tacuba will be back to the stages after taking a well deserved break after their 20th anniversary tour in 2009. The SF will be their first appearance before heading back to Mexico City to perform at Vive Latino. For the first time in their career, “Los Tacubos” will split their time between performing and recording for their new album, which will be produced by Gustavo Santaolalla.
Also for the 2012 edition, the fusion of musical styles continues with the addition of the Low End Theory Stage, which is based on the increasingly popular Low End Theory weekly experimental hip hop and electronic music club night that began in Los Angeles in 2006 and that has now expanded to NYC, the Bay area and Japan. In the same spirit of cooperation and mixture of musical styles, Cypress Hill will share the stage with English DJ Rusko .
On the Smokeout Stage and as part of their tour for their latest album “Path of Totality”, Korn will headline the festival before making their way overseas for the European leg of the tour. And Washington DC’s Thievery Corporation will bring their fusion of acid jazz, reggae, dub, Middle Eastern, and Brazilian styles to the Massive Stoned Garden Stage.
Other notable acts performing this year are: Sublime with Rome, Wiz Khalifa, Ritmo Machine, The Dirty Heads, DJ Wolfgang Gartner, and DJ Muggs, amongst many others.
