All eyes will be on Pasadena this June. In part, due to the celebratory events of the city’s 125th anniversary. But this weekend it’ll be due to the Make Music Pasadena (MMP) festival taking place on Saturday, June 18th. For your delight, Southern California’s largest free music event with four main stages, numerous performances, vendors and food trucks galore, welcomes a stunning lineup of Latin Alternative faves including Carla Morrison, Hello Seahorse!, La Santa Cecilia, and Salt Petal to the stage.

For Morrison, the MMP showdown will be her LA homecoming since her move to Mexico City which has proven fruitful by various accolades including three 2011 IMAS Indie-O Music Award nominations and the win for “Best Folk Album” for her Mientras Tu Dormias album produced by MMP veteran, Natalie Lafourcade.

“Moving to Mexico was the best thing I’ve done. My music grew inmensely,” states the Tecate, MX native.  “Natalia also won “Best Producer” for Mientras Tu Dormias and it was pretty freakin’ cool for both of us to win. But now I’m just excited to share the stage with HelloSeahorse! and give the people of Pasadena some love from Carlita!”

You can get more love from “Carlita” prior to her MMP set by viewing the recently released “Dolores a Colores” documentatry, an independent film that shadows Morrison on the road from gig to gig. “It’s my gift to my fans. And it was important for me that people know that great things do come out of little cities like Tecate”.

Catch Carla Morrison, Hello Seahorse, La Santa Cecilia, and Salt Petal in the city of Pasadena on Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 11am to 11pm. It’s free.
