Mexican rockers Kinky playing at the 2012 Jubilee is enough to draw a herd of electronica music fans to the Memorial Day weekend festival. So adding the soulful flavors of La Santa Cecilia and Las Cafeteras to the events lineup makes it one gig Latin Alternative devotees can’t afford to miss.
Currently, Kinky’s Gil Gerezo, Carlos Chairez, Omar Góngora, Ulises Lozano and Cesar Pliego are playing before audiences in Guadalajara and Tepic, Mexico, and will then take a brief detour to Colombia on March 18 before stepping foot on the iconic Vive Latino festival in Mexico City on March 25. The band is currently promoting their 2011 release “Sueño de la máquina” from which the singles “Negro día” and “Intoxícame” spun.
Latin Grammy nominees La Santa Cecilia are getting ready for their in-store performance at Amoeba in Hollywood on March 26 where they will release an EP of cover songs entitled “El Valor” and Las Cafeteras are currently wrapping up their studio time before their encore performance at the Jubilee.
General Admission passes are on sale for $25-$30. Weekend passes purchased online include a commemorative event T-shirt. Tickets without shirts will be sold in stores including Amoeba, Barkeeper, Origami, Vacation and WACKO as well as at the event gates.
This year’s Jubilee will be held in Silver Lake on Memorial Day Weekend—May 26–27, 2012—on Santa Monica Blvd. at Sunset Blvd.
