The list of summer music concerts and festivals keeps growing with the addition of Descarga 2012 in which Latin artists of various musical genres will present a showcase of free music concerts. The sixth annual series presented by Telemundo and mun2 kicks off in Los Angeles on July 15 with the participation of Al Borde Day of the Dead Festival Alumni El Conjunto Nueva Ola, Mexican pop group Jotdog and norteño band Los Rieleros del Norte.
One of the this year’s most eclectic showcases is the one slated to culminate the series on August 25 in which Spanish pop icon Belinda will share the bill with indie singer Gaby Moreno, “Me Haces Volar” singer Eli Jas and musician Leslie Grace.
The series of free, open to the public summer night concerts takes place at Universal Studios CityWalk in Los Angeles in the evenings. There are no admission tickets required and no seats available; therefore, fans are encouraged to arrive early in order to get the best view of the stage.
Our suggestion is to arrive early and plan to have dinner or drinks at one of the restaurants near the Cinema Plaza, where the concerts take place. This way you can enjoy your dinner with a side of live music concert.
In previous years, Descarga has featured Reik, Mucho DJ’s, Beatriz Luego and other artists from regional Mexican, cumbia, urban, pop, and alternative music genres.
This year, the CityWalk event will have a sister location hosting the concerts: Las Vegas! The Sin City gigs are scheduled for July 14 with the performance of Beto Cuevas and Jotdog, and a July 28 concert featuring Larry Hernandez and El Pelon del Mikrophone.
