The major change for this year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival is that it will be held on two consecutive weekends with the exact same line-up for both.
The festival will be held on April 13-15 and April 20-22, with the usual musical collide of emerging artists and some of today’s biggest names such as Radiohead, The Black Keys, Dr. Dre with Snoop Dog and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Bird. Both weekends have been sold out since January when the tickets first went on sale.
Mexico will be present again at this year’s edition with Hello Seahorse and Ximena Sariñana on the bill for both Friday’s. Last year, the return of Caifanes to the stage was all the rage amongst Latin alternative music fans.
Coming off a successful presentation in Mexico City’s Vive Latino 2012, Hello Seahorse will take their indie pop melodies to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA before heading to the studio to work on their next album. Its first single is rumored to be out this summer.
Ximena Sariñana arrives to Coachella after playing last month’s SXSW festival and is currently touring her latest album, “Ximena Sariña”, the Mexican singer/actresses first English album.
Other notables for Friday’s line up are English ska veterans Madness who have undergone a remarkable revival in the past few years. Also from England, The Artic Monkeys will take fire to the stage with their energy and postpunk attitude. The headliners for Friday night are The Black Keys, who are still riding the wave from last year’s hit album “El Camino”.
Saturday’s line up includes English punk veteran group the Buzzcocks, which is back to its original line up. Former Oasis founder and guitarist Noel Gallagher and his band High Flying Birds will present his first album with his new band and will also perform a few Oasis’ hits. And squeezing-in two shows at Mexico’s Foro Sol between their two Coachella appearances is Radiohead who will headline both Saturday nights.
On Sunday, Florence and The Machine along with At The Drive In and The Hives will keep the masses rocking throughout the day before Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog close the festival with a heavy serving of hip-hop classics.
