What happens when you mix popular English pop & rock songs with cumbia rhythms and rap? The result of this mixture is Los Master Plus.
Los Master Plus are a couple of artists from Guadalajara, Jalisco who have been spreading their music and humor all through Mexico and they are now trying to do the same in the United States and this Thursday, May 8th, they will be playing at Los Globos Night Club in Silver Lake.
According to their Facebook page, Los Master Plus describe themselves as: “a young band that with great energy and they make the tightest people dance and they make conservative nuns sing. Larry Mon and El Comanche are the life of the party.”
El Comanche and Larry Mon have an unknown history, but legend says that El Comanche likes olive skinned girls and if they are wearing a miniskirts, even better. On the other hand, Larry Mon likes young spring chickens. Destiny united them and created Los Master Plus.
Taking Los Master Plus a bit more seriously, the music of Los Master Plus takes humor and certain amount of sarcasm and irony and combine it with their love for all the music they like and moves them. This mixture of sounds and humor has yielded Spanish cumbia covers of “Don’t Speak” from No Doubt, but titled “Mami”; Saturday Night Fever by the Bee Gees is re-titled “Quiero Bailar” or “Sex on Fire” from Kings of Leon among others besides their own compositions.
Los Master Plus have also become a Youtube sensation by having more than 3 million visits to their videos which show El Comanche and Larry Mon get into funny and awkward adventure and situations.
Los Master Plus will be joined at Los Globos by Niña Dioz and DJ Kolo Barrera this Thursday May 8th. Tickets can be purchased in advance.
