Fresh out of Lollapalooza, the Chilean singer, Francisca Valenzuela, has opened up her heart and soul with the released of her third studio album, Tajo Abierto.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Valenzuela decided to go back to her roots and moved to Santiago, Chile at the age of 12. And now, at the young age of 23, she has mastered the art of multi-tasking her talents. Being a singer-songwriter, poet, and multi-instrumentalist, has gained her both gold and platinum album certification in Chile and great popularity in Latin America and Tajo Abierto proves that she has no plans on stopping there.

Tajo Abierto opens up with the already highly successful single “Prenderemos al Fuego.” Under its original lounge/dance version, it debuted at #2 on ITunes, Chile. A great treat to fans is its acoustic rendition, which is a haunting melody as it delves in with a sole piano behind Valenzuela’s voice.

The tone perks up a bit with “Perfume de tu Piel” and the demanding lyrics “I don’t want to find traces of anyone else, If the scent of your skin and the sound of your voice are not the same when I return.” A sad and desperate tone takes over “Siempre Eres Tu;” her melancholic voice accuses “You’re always the one that breaks me, leaves, and doesn’t come back.”
The soft and sexy “Catedral” doesn’t apologize for what comes natural. “Almost Superstars” carries a faster pace and takes a jab at the world we’re living in, of almost superstars, who are ashamed of what they are.

“Estremecer” has another sexy, yet electro rock sound that serves as a great breakup/revenge jam as she boldly states “I was the one that knew how to make you tremble in bed.” “Armadura” removes all “armor” and lets all guards down. It was the single of the week on Itunes, US. “Insulto” enters with a soft piano and breaks with a single clarinet and it also reached single of the week in ITunes, Mexico.

The soft tone continues with “Cuequita del Corazon” where the clarinet makes an appearance consistently and talks about giving in completely to someone with the lyrics “Your heart conquers me with its melody.” The eclectic album ends with ”Tajo Abierto”, a liberating song about opening up….mind, body, and soul.

For this new venture, Valenzuela joined forces with four different producers Dave Sitek (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Foals, Santigold), Aureo Baqueiro (Natalia Lafourcade, Alejandro Fernández), as well as Jesse Rogg and Vicente Sanfuentes to bring some of her best work yet.

Tajo Abierto is now available for download on iTunes.
