Fresh off her performance at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on August 1st, the California born of Chilean descent, Francisca Valenzuela took the Los Globos stage by storm and put on a riveting performance that left her fans aching for more while gaining a few more fans after her performance.

Francisca Valenzuela was born and raised in San Francisco, CA to Chilean parents. At the age of 13, Francisca moved to Santiago where she began to make her way into the arts by becoming a published writer and poet at the age of 14 with two books, “Defenseless Waters”, a collection of English poems and “Abejorros/Madurar”, two short stories.

Having studied classical piano since childhood, Francisca Valenzuela was an accomplished musicians and as she got older, she also picked up the guitar and began to write music. Francisca independently released her first album, Muérdete la Lengua (Bite your Tongue) in 2007 and it went gold and platinum in Chile. Her second album, Buen Soldado (Good Soldier) was released in, 2011) and it also reached gold status in Chile. Her third LP, which is scheduled to be released in September of this year and it was produced in Los Angeles, CA, with the collaboration of several local producers. The first single off the new album, “Prenderemos Fuego Al Cielo” (We Will Fire up the Sky) is already available on Spotify and iTunes.

At Los Globos, Francisca Valenzuela showed her versatility as a performer as she easily moved from acoustic guitar to keyboards as well as superb command of the stage as she led her band through songs from her two previous albums as well as playing some tracks of her upcoming album.

Although Valenzuela’s music has been categorized as pop rock, I would like to think of it as eclectic as she easily moves from electronic dance beats, to hard rocking guitar driven tracks to soulful and heartfelt slower piano or keyboard based cuts.

In what turned out to be a bilingual show, Valenzuela started off the evening with “Buen Soldado and “Quiero Verte Mas” from her 2011 release, Buen Soldado. Cuts from her first album like “Afortunada” and “Peces” also made the set list, which was nicely balanced with new and English tracks such as the new single “Prenderemos Fuego Al Cielo” and “Next To You in the Dark”.
