After their recent performance at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City where they sold over 20,000 tickets, Enjambre revealed the dates of the U.S. tour that will start on October 11, at the Ember in Anaheim.

The group is well known on both sides of the border and is one of the bands with the strongest drawing power in Mexico. Enjambre frequently performs at mass concerts selling out all seats and that is of the reasons why there is such growing expectation and anticipation for Enjambre‘s visit to the United States.

Enjambre had its beginnings in the local music scene in the O.C. and Los Angeles, but ended up moving to Mexico City where they were able to find the success they are enjoying now.  Although the band has come back to play some shows in L.A. area, they have not done a full on tour of the U.S. until now.

To find out more about the band and the tour, we had a phone conversation with lead singer Luis Navejas and here is a little bit of what we talked about:

How do you feel about your first tour of the U.S.?

“Although we have been wanting to do a full tour of the U.S. for some time, we had not found the right people to book the tour, and once we were approached about this tour, we didn’t know what to expect as we have not had a physical presence in most of the places where we will be playing, but we’ve read different websites and we feel there are people out there who want to see us and it is always exciting to play for new audiences.”

After having had your start as a band in the U.S. what made you decide to move to Mexico City?

“Although we had a good following in the O.C. and L.A. we began to notice that it was always the same people at all the shows, so we were not getting any new people out to the shows and also there was no support from the Latin media or radio since they are more interested in what sells, so that would be Mexican regional and pop music.”

“We were invited to play a couple of shows in Mexico City and the response was very good.  Later on, we were invited back again and the response was even bigger, so then we decided to stick around and do a residency, but what started out to be a few weeks’ residency turned into us settling down and giving it our all down in Mexico and fortunately it has paid off.

How has the band evolved after the success of your latest album “Huespedes Del Orbe” and the great success of your last tour?

We have found a better chemistry among the band members and it has also helped us mature as individuals and as a band, this is no longer a hobby like it was at the beginning, we are very fortunate that we can make a living from our music so we have to strive to keep up and get even better.
