Enjambre at The Echoplex

By | October 17, 2013

Last Sunday night, slowly but surely, the crowd began to assemble at the The Echoplex to welcome back one of its own, Enjambre, who began as a band in the L.A. and O.C. music scenes and after moving to Mexico City in 2008, four albums later and sold out shows all over Mexico, Enjambre has come back to embark on their first tour of the U.S.

The Echoplex it’s a venue known for not only alternative but eclectic concerts and some music giants like The Mars Volta, NIN, Beck, Thom York and most notably, The Rolling Stones, have performed at the famed venue in Echo Park.

Enjambre took the stage and The Echoplex exploded with excitement as the enthusiastic crowd welcomed back their hometown heroes. Singer Luis Humberto Navejas, danced and twirled around on stage as if he was being urged on by the reaction of the crowd.

Songs from their current album, “Huespedes Del Orbe” were received with great enthusiasm by the crowd who sang along with the band, as Julián Navejas on guitar and keyboards and Javier Mejia on lead guitar traded guitar licks while Rafael Navejas on bass Angel Sanchez on drums kept the band grounded with their energetic beats and pulsating bass lines.

Other hits like “Dulce Soledad”, “Madrugada” and “Visita” made the set list and after a short exit, Enjambre came back to the stage to close out the show with “Elemento”.  At one point during the show, Luis thanked the crowd for coming out and said it was a great to see new faces this time around, and I am sure that after those who attended the concert tell their friends about it, more new faces will show up at every show, as Enjambre is definitely a band that must be experienced live.

Enjambre will continue the tour with stops in San Jose on the 16th, Fresno on the 17th and New York on the 20th.
