Duncan Dhu reunion

It was 1984 when Mikel Erentuxn, Diego Vasallos, and Juan Ramón Viles first captivated fans with their Spanish rock tunes. Under the band name “Duncan Dhu”, the band presented hits like “En Algún Lugar”, which is now considered an 80’s classic and a ‘must-have’ for playlists of that follow that genre.

Erentxun continues to captivate and inspire his fans, but does so now as a solo artist. He recently performed two shows in Southern Cali in support of his 24 Golpes album, which was released last year. The two shows were originally scheduled for March of this year but sudden chest pains forced the singer to undergo heart surgery and cancel any pending work. “Everything is fine now,” he confessed. “I feel like new. I can’t wait to get back on the stage and enjoy every moment of it.”

Like a true warrior, Erentxun is already working on his next ‘to-do’. “We have the reunion of Duncan Dhu coming up,” he says, adding that the reconnection was completely unplanned. “Diego and I were working on a song that sounded very much like what were were doing back then, so we joked about doing a concert together.” With one thing leading to another, they would quickly end up with other songs.

“At this point we don’t have any long-term plans,” said Erentxun. “I have many songs that I’ve written but I ‘m going to wait and see what happens with Duncan Dhu before I determine what to do with them.”

Aware of the excitement that the reunion news has caused among fans, Erentxun also hopes to tour the new music. “It could be a few songs or a whole new album,” he said, unsure of where the reconnection will take them. “We definitely want to do some live shows and want to do something in Mexico because Mexico has been very significant for Duncan Dhu as well as in my solo career, so we want to do something special.”
