Even though the name might not ring a bell, the Belgian duo Vive La Fête are no newcomers to the music scene. As a matter of fact, they have been working it since 1997, having a huge impact mostly underground of course. Their latest album “Disque D’Or” is set to be their introductory letter to the U.S. of A., as Danny Mommens and Els Pynoo utilize their greatest assets and combine the experience acquired throughout the years and a couple of albums, tomando lo mejor de cada uno and polishing their trademark sound to perfection, making indeed a “Disque D’Or”… o sea un disco de oro. Vive La Five La Fête -which means long live the party in French- triumphantly amalgamate indie, synthpop, alternative rock, electroclash, new wave, and dance-punk into a delicious and contagious musical concoction that will have you dancing for days.
Aunque no entiendas ni papa de francés, Vive La Fête’s “Disque D’Or” te levantará los animos and will have you on the dancefloor dancing, rocking, and rolling… Beware! -head bobbing, and foot tapping to occur unconsciously while sitting down or driving.
While the sound on “Disque D’Or” is still very electro and danceable, unlike their previous works, the sound on this album is more rock tinged. “Disque D’Or” is a great summer album perfecto para cuando te estás preparando para irte de pachanga, or on your way to the antro. Quite an enjoyable French/German import.
Kudos on the lullaby-esque closing track… its fun, its chill, it’s cute, it’s cool. Best part is, “Elle N’ Écoute Pas” manages to be soothing and rawk at the same time.
