Reminiscent of early Go Betty Go and heavily influenced by their parents’ ethnic backgrounds, the all girl quartet has fused ska riffs, ranchera vocals, their own take of rock and roll and compressed it into a nine track album. The fun, airy, high energetic riffs show a young bands raw talent and passion for the music. Beginning with folkloric Lila Downs type vocals before transitioning into an upbeat ska beat, track number 5 “Decidete” lays as the only all Spanish song on the album. And with ripping riffs and yelping lyrics from the get-go up until the last string is strung and last beat is hit, “Oh Bondage (up yours!)” is the albums punkest track and earns the quartet rocker points.
Must grab The Sirens’ “Look Again” if you take pleasure in discovering new music and following a band from its early beginnings.
My favorite track: The Sirens’ rendition of “Oh Bondage (up yours!)”
