After their smashin’ first self titled EP released under the Noiselab label in 2006, Six Million Dollar Weirdo followed it up with the 5 track EP “The Rise…” This recently released EP is the second of three that are set to be a part of a compilation CD scheduled for release in late ’08. And remaining true to the glam rock synthetic punk stilo reminiscent of the 70’s era that the band is known for projecting, the quartet establishes itself once again as one of Mexico’s most creative bands of the moment.
{sidebar id=119}Transitioning from English to Spanish lyrics within a same song, Six Million Dollar Weirdo proves its ability to adapt to and embrace new elements with “The Rise”. In comparison to their first, “The Rise” incorporates more electro elements which front man Abulon and Dr.Bona have been experimenting with diligently.
The laser-effect infested “Acid Stallion” track is perhaps the most tech-synthetic of the EP, and is thus far the EP’s most popular track along with “Love Transmission”. “Love Transmission” is the first track released from the EP and has already stepped up to the plate after their first EP’s release “Horror Amor” introduced the band as the new must-hear band.
The EP has already been released in Mexico and is set to be digitally available in the states within a couple of weeks. And as a special gift to Six Million Dollar Weirdo fans, the EP will be available as a free download for a limited time as soon as the band gets all the legal stuff underway.
The EP “The rise” is recommended to be played on your way to a rock show as you bang your head left to right á la Haddaway’s “What is love?”
Best is listened to in a club where you can get in a trance and let your body move to the beat.
