Natalia Lafourcade: Back to basics with “Azul”

By February 2, 2009Album Reviews

Rolas como “En El 2000” y “Busca Un Problema” introduced a spunky and talented singer/songwriter and made of her debut album a success.  For her sophomore album she teamed with her longtime band members and decided to approach music as a team under “Natalia y La Forquetina” with a rockier and darker sound… unfortunately Lafourcade was victim of the sophomore slump and didn’t perform as well. Now after a long hiatus, Natalia Lafourcade is back to the music scene.

Azul

Natalia Lafourcade “ditched” her bandmates and is back as simple “Natalia Lafourcade”.  While she is currently working on her upcoming album, la rola “Azul” just made its way through the net, and surprisingly enough it shows Natalia Lafourcade at her best.

For “Azul”, Natalia Lafourcade is keeping things raw and simple, going back to her pop/ bossa nova/  and chill roots.

If “Azul” is an indication of what’s to come on the next Natalia Lafourcade album, fans and newbies won’t be disappointed.
