The line outside Giggles Night Club in Glendale, CA. reached around the corner as fans could not contain their excitement to see one of their favorite bands, the electro-pop band, Belanova.
Prior to the show, Belanova held interviews with members of the Los Angeles media and we were able to briefly speak with the members of the band.
Al Borde had started a new service to our readers in which we ask them to tell us what they would like to ask of their favorite artists or bands and Belanova was the first band in which we are introducing our reader’s questions and here is an excerpt of our interview:
How did the band get into electro-pop?
We used to listen to a lot of house, drum and base and techno… there was like a boom in electronic music and we really got into it and we have always been very open minded and we try not to limit ourselves, but we all have our favorite things, like DJ’ing, or classic music like Stevie Wonder or Herbie Hancock.
Another question from our fans was, how did you get involved with the Gay Pride movement?
We have played the Long Beach Gay Pride event this year and this weekend we are going up to San Francisco and it happened in a very natural way, we have always had the support of the LGTB community and after 14 years of being supported by this community it is very rewarding being able to give back to them and it also allows us the opportunity to be introduced to music fans that perhaps would not have come to a Belanova show and hopefully they will become fans of our music.
Belanova hit the stage and from the very first notes of their hit “Rosa Pastel”, the band went into overdrive and their fans loved every second of it.
The love of Belanova’s fans was very evident when all of a sudden the sound on stage failed and while the sound crew worked fast to get the sound back on, instead of the usual booing that often happens when there are technical issues, their fans kept chanting Belanova’s name and didn’t stop until the band was able to get back on stage.
This minor sound problem did not dampen the bands or their fan’s enthusiasm and the momentum picked right back up. Other hits like “Cada Que…”, “Solo Dos”, “Mariposas” and others had their fans dancing and singing along. Halfway through the show, the band broke into an acoustic interlude with songs like “Barco De Papel”, “Hasta El Final” and the Mexican classic, “Cucurrucucu Paloma”.
To close out the show, the band came back on stage to play “Toma Mi Mano” and “Por Ti.
