Babaluca

BabalucaWith the Latin Alternative music community growing by leaps and bounds, more and more bands surface from anonymity and venture into the music world. Directly from Phoenix, Arizona comes “Babaluca”, a band that has taken the pop stigma and turned it into something faboosh, showing all music aficionados que no todo lo que es pop es malo.

Even though “Babaluca” is not a solely pop act, they do utilize several pop elements in their music but cleverly fuse them with lite indie rock, resulting in a harmonious concoction of sounds that must be experienced first hand to be totally appreciated.

“Babaluca” is a relatively young band, barely formed back in May 2007.  In spite of their short time together as a band, “Babaluca” has many achievements under their belt.  They received the Stylos award for “The Best Indie Latin Band of 2008” for Arizona, they have been featured at MySpace Latino’s home page, y por si fuera poco “Babaluca” has served as opening act to bands such as “Bosque Discotecha”, “Babasonicos”, and even “Kinky”.

Even though their first album is yet to be released, “Babaluca” has recorded a must-have, home-made yet splendid EP, which they usually sell-out during gigs.

What sets “Babaluca” on the map is their versatility and their ability to turn cheesy tunes into beautifully constructed melodies.  Aside from that, another thing that works towards their success is the way they embrace bilingualism, it just comes out naturally and magnificently.

“Babaluca” is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the Latin Alternative music community… neta que si.
