Although attracted to music from a young age, at 15 years old, Bolivian singer/songwriter Jose Mrocheck’s life changed when his brother gave him the sheet music to Pink Floyd’s The Wall and he soon went out and formed his first rock band.

After many years of writing songs and putting out music independently under his musical moniker, Avionica, Jose left his home town in Cochabamba, Bolivia and came to Los Angeles to work on his new album, aptly called, California.
Recorded at the historic Ocean Way studios in Hollywood, the album is packed with a who’s who of music beginning with the producer, multi Grammy winner, Sebastian Krys and special guests musicians like Pete Thomas, Elvis Costello’s drummer; Dave Levita, guitarist for Alanis Morrisette; John Falcone, bassist who has worked with Shakira and former member of Fulano De Tal and Roger Manning Jr. from Jellyfish.

Voice production was done at Miami’s Jet Wash studios by three time Grammy winner, Colombian producer, Andres Saavedra.

All the music for California was written by Avionica and for the lyrics, Jose collaborated with other talented writers like two time Grammy nominee Elsten Torres, and Chilean producer Christian ”Cacho” Romero.

For the first single, “Desde Cero” Sebastian Krys suggested working with phenomenal Spanish singer/song writer, Vega, with whom Sebastian had worked with previously. “Desde Cero” starts up with a guitar riff that just grabs you until Jose’s melodic soulful voice takes over and makes you want to sing along. The video for “Desde Cero” was directed by Puerto Rican director Ariel Annexy and taking the idea of one of the 80’s most recognizable videos, Aha’s “Take On Me”, Ariel tells the story of the song through a series of drawings.

Having been influenced by a great variety of artists like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Cars, Tom Petty, Prince, Billy Idol, Soda Stereo, Duran Duran, Nirvana, and U2, Avionica’s music has the heart and soul of rock & roll but with a Latin sensibility to its lyrics which makes for the perfect combination of these rich musical landscapes.

California is now available for download on iTunes.
