Good bangs are hard to find. Especially when you have no idea what you like, dislike or prefer. But after many restless nights of considering my many options- the short bang, the long bang or the dirty bang-I figured all bangs are good bangs…so long as you bang them right. Chic-rocker-chick Ely Guerra likes all types of bangs. And if anyone knows how to do them all, it’s definitely Ely.
Hair should never be over rated. And as Ely and I know, the first step to changing your life around or to cure a broken heart is cutting or dyeing your hair. Although bangs are obviously part of your hair, they’ve gone under the radar for quite some time. But if you allow yourself to experiment and try the various styles, your bangs can give you a different look for every one of your emotional moods. Here we compare Ely doing the short and the long bangs. I prefer long bangs. Short ones aren’t my type. But at the 6th Annual Latin Grammy Awards where she was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, “Sweet & Sour, Hot y Spicy”, Ely rocked long, side-swept bangs for a low-key, yet rocker look that we’re used to seeing her wear. Accompanied by a flirty bob, Ely’s short bangs give her a “girl next door” type of look as opposed to the edgy, laid back look that long, side swept bangs give her. The short bangs make me imagine Ely baking cookies rather than rocking out on stage.
The dirty bangs are good too. We all need nice, long, dirty bangs every now and then. In the early days of her career, Ely often wore these same dirty bangs. The look can be achieved by adding texture to the bangs rather than cutting them straight across. By cutting into them, the ends of the strands fall freely and loosely as opposed to straight and flat. The looks work when an edgy, wake up and shag type of look is desired.
Don’t be afraid to try different types of bangs before committing to one bang for the rest of our life. The long, the short, the dirty and, sure why not, even the shaggy deserve a chance. You can’t go wrong with trying them all. Bang away I say…bang away!!!
