On October 5, 2011, the world lost another battle to pancreatic cancer. In his last seven years and while living with the illness, Steve Jobs introduced some of the most popular gadgets to date including the iPhone, iPad, iPod and the online app store, and simultaneously reshaped the way people connect with one another and the way they access information.

Shortly after begin diagnosed, he talked to the 2005 graduating class of Stanford University about the steps that led to the creation of those products as well as about the moment he was diagnosed with cancer. But the most impacting parts of his speech had nothing to do with the success of the Apple empire and how in 10 years he turned the company from a garage project into a $2 billion company with over 4,000 employees. What Jobs wanted to leave the hundreds of young Stanford grads that were about to leap into the career frontier with, was a simple message about life and how to “stay hungry and stay foolish”. Here’s the message as delivered by Steve Jobs at the university’s 114th Commencement.

And in honor of such an amazing human being and a life well lived, may we all strive to push our own boundaries and live our lives with the courage to follow our hearts and intuition.
