Critically acclaimed (or hated) 2010’s science fiction comedy film “Kaboom”, written and directed by Gregg Araki is finally poised to invade the US on Jan. 28th. Its cartoon-like narrative will certainly seduce young audiences, as it has done so in recent festivals around the globe. The film which will be officially released in the US next week, contains one of the most exciting soundtracks to hit the shelves in recent years.

Araki’s announced on his Facebook fan page that he had “just got a list of theatres & there’s a whole bunch of them. 1st dates are NY 1/28 and LA 2/4 (OutFest), then SF, Chicago, Berkeley, Costa Mesa on 2/18. From there thru March-April, Cambridge, Wash DC, Nashville, Palm Springs, San Diego, Seattle, Denver, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, P…ortland, St. Louis, Boca Raton, Coral Gables, Columbus and New Orleans! So awesome!!”, he wrote.

The story follows a sexually undeclared and nihilistic college kid who is fatalistic about his future. Satirizing a civilization where college kids would do anything before becoming responsible and boring adults, Araki depicts modern life introducing a very personal narrative to bring sexuality to the big screen. Is much funnier than any previous graphic novel-derived movies, genuinely anarchic as previous Araki’s works. It also has all the ingredients to become a generational cult movie.

Araki is so excited about the fans reactions to the movie that has posted the full list of songs included in the soundtrack for “Kaboom” in his Facebook page, with details on when the songs are played during the film which has grown an enthusiastic following while playing the festival circuit around the world.
