If you’re a goon for reality television, you may recognize the names Golnessa Farmanara and Cindy Ayvar. They’re the young, fashion designer bff’s that took part of “The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection” season 2 from cable television network Bravo.
And although neither one of them walked out the winner of the competition, they did manage to kick-start Goci, a collection of ready to wear clothing and cocktail dresses that has celebrities from Maria Conchita Alonso and Gretchen Rossi of the reality television show “Real Housewives of Orange County”, saying “Me like!”
The two L.A. based designers met in school and worked different jobs within the fashion industry before launching the line. Farmanara was assistant designer for celebrity designer Angela Dean of DEANZIGN and Ayvar interned under noted designer Eduardo Lucero.
The name Goci was taken from the first two initials of
each of the bff’s names and as with its name, Goci is a hybrid of both Farmanara and Ayvar’s cultures. On one hand, Farmanara’s Persian roots inspire the draping that highlights most of the Goci collection while Ayvar’s upbringing in Acapulco, Mexico influences pieces that are twisted and wrapped around to create loose fitting garments that are cool enough for the beach and elegant enough for cocktails after bathing in the sun. Both designers take their inspiration to the next level by creating pieces that are comfortable to wear and ultra feminine as well.
Maria Conchita Alonso wore one of their designs to the “Rally for Kids With Cancer” event, while reality television star Gretchen Rossi and Spanish radio personality Stephanie Himonidis are also known for being fans of the line.
On Friday, September 16, the duo will take its collection to Beverly Hills to showcase in the third annual “Estilo Con Causa” fashion/music/art event where 100% of the tickets sales will be donated to impoverished children in El Salvador. The event will also feature other L.A. designers as well as include the debut musical performance of Mexican actress Fernanda Romero.
