The name says it all: “Estilo con Causa” (Style For A Cause). It’s a fashion, music and art event that enlists the pull of Latino celebrities to raise funds for communities in need. In its first attempt, the event raised funds to provide basic needs for members of CAMHET, a battered women’s shelter in Jalisco, Mexico. This year, Latinos Con Corazón, the non-profit organization that presents the now annual fundraising event, is seeking to help build a school for an impoverished community in El Salvador through the proceeds collected at its February 5th fashion event.

Johana Hernandez, founder of Latinos Con Corazón and a power source in lines such as Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers and Seven 7 Jeans, will be showcasing her debut collection, GLAUDI, at “Estilo con Causa” along with other Latino designers including Tony Ynot, Haus de Estrada of  ‘Project Runway’ fame, Adolfo Sánchez, Dos Gallos by Ignacio and Zoro Rodriguez, and Endure y Cano by Richard Orozco. Ex-RBD member Christian Chávez, American Idol finalist Allison Iraheta, actress Fernanda Romero, and Stephanie Himonidis “La Chiquibaby” are a few of the enlisted celebrities modeling the collections.

In this exclusive interview with Johana Hernandez, she talks about the itinerary for the fashion event and about the impact that the “Estilo con Causa” proceeds have on the lives of those who receive them.
