The Dionysian festival that happens twice a year begins with an emptying of the pockets and a pat down, which is hardly considered a setback when one considers exactly what’s to follow—four models asking if you’d like your erection (or your boyfriend’s/ husband’s /significant other’s erection) to last longer than even Viagra can provide. It’s a weekend where thousands of people separated by age, gender, race, and sexual orientation converge upon the L.A. Convention Center, unabashedly motivated to congregate by sex, the adult film industry, and novelties.

From clothes to bowls and cosmetic surgery to names that end in .com, companies make the trip to promote their products and merchandise to eager consumers. Even the companies that one may only be able to loosely associate with sex or adult films capitalized on the wonderfully lascivious nature of the convention. Chronic Candy set up a bed next to their display, where girls would lay and pose with the metaphorical lollipop hanging from their mouth as though they were salivating for…well, you should be able to figure it out. Hills Surgical brought their work with them (a blonde masterpiece of a success story), and poles were erected throughout for other girls and models to dance and accentuate their physiques on.

However, the main attraction would obviously be the reason attendees rush from booth to booth with digital, disposable, video, and cell phone cameras in hand, fingers ready to catch that perfect, tangible, two-dimensional memory that happens in an instant. Momentarily crowding around wherever the action is, they move between booths anxiously awaiting their chance to take pictures and get autographs from the likes of beautiful, blue eyed Sophie Dee (Seymour Butts Ass Good Ass It Gets, Psycho Cheerleaders), legendary, buxom Briana Banks (Perfect Match, Pimped by an Angel), and the stunningly drop-dead gorgeous Kayden Kross (Adventures in Babysitting, Be Here Now) amongst others. All of whom are so ravishing that even if the crowd briefly wanders away, they always come back for seconds. For them, this is the reason to be here—standing face to face with the women of their wildest dreams and fantasies (it doesn’t hurt that you can take them home either; though, it would, of course have to be in one of their sensationally stimulating videos).

And all this is thanks to the people at Adultcon, who market and successfully demonstrate their event as the convention where fans can meet these beautiful women. However, not to be recognized solely as a convention, Adultcon also reaches out to Adult Film enthusiasts and stars through their annual awards ceremony, which is to take place Sunday, July 27, 2008 and presents awards in the categories of Best Actress in an Intercourse Performance, Best Actress for an Anal Performance, Best Actor for an Intercourse Performance, and more. With three opportunities a year to bump elbows with the stars and soon-to-be stars of the Adult Film Industry, the only question one can ask beyond “When?” and “Where?” is “Can we please have some more?”
