The Basics: Nightlife in Los Angeles is going through some rough changes. The good old days when all the partying and clubbing took place during the weekend are long gone. Now, the must-do thing is party during the week, which is apparently when the best events are happening. The newly remodeled “Vertigos Ultra Lounge” along with its façade, modernized its modus operandi, ditching the “bar & grill” ambiance for something hip, chic, and up to date- which included adding events during the week, one of them being “Positively Negative” on Tuesdays.
Unlike other nights at “Vertigos Ultra Lounge” where they usually spin Top 40, 80’s, hip-hop, and the usual lounge/club jams, on Tuesdays “Vertigos” ditches its regular target audience and instead brings together a sometimes neglected community in the music scene.
“Positively Negative” veers towards the electro/ house/ nurave/ alternative crowd, usually featuring some interesting DJs. For their latest event, DSkotek, DeClash, Cease, JoeDirt and Electrolux where in charge of bringing down the house and keeping the dance floor hot and busy.
On Tuesday nights “Vertigos Ultra Lounge” is 18+, which can be a major turn-off to many, but surprisingly enough, it’s not as bad. Plus, who can resist $3 drink specials?
While it’s a lounge, “Vertigos” doubles up as a club. It has that chill loungey vibe, yet big-enough dance floors (two of them) to dance the night away.
So if you have nothing to do on a Tuesday night, definitely check out “Positively Negative”, you’ll have a good time and meet some interesting people.
