The Basics: Beware, “Tiny’s K.O.” no es para todos. While it’s located in Hollywood- on Hollywood Blvd. para variar, it’s everything but what you’ll expect from Hollywood joints. That’s precisely what they where trying to achieve since day one: a bar/ lounge/ joint free of drama, velvet ropes, pretentiousness and Top 40 tunes. While it might be considered a dive bar because of the way it looks and operates, it’s anything but a dive bar- remember, looks lie. “Tiny’s K.O.” is a small dim lit hole in the wall, somewhat random and kitschy perfect to unleash the inner punk rocker in you.
If you can’t even stomach punk rock, a night out at “Tiny K.O.” might not be such a great idea since it’s pretty much all you’ll find in their jukebox: punk rock, some metal, and even 70’s glam- from Metallica and Iron Maiden to the Misfits.
The vibe is pretty cool and very chill, definitely a nice little place to unwind after work, or to drop by for some beers during the weekend if you’re feeling too lazy to go clubbing.
Gotta eat!
One thing in particular about “Tiny K.O.” is their food menu. Everyone knows that bar food is rather questionable and most of the time you’re better off just eating a hot dog from any stand on the street. However, “Tiny K.O.” has a great and surprisingly tasty and addicting menu.
For starters, their fries are not bad, but the three dipping sauces they come with will make you go bonkers.
They have a couple of signature sandwiches/ hamburgers that are a must-try whenever you go to “Tiny K.O.” We decided to try the “K.O. Burger”, the “Surfin’ Bird” and we were so intrigued by the “Teenage Lobotomy” we just had to try it.
The “K.O. Burger” is “Tiny K.O.’s” take on the traditional hamburger, however it has caramelized onions and a chipotle mayo that is quite impressive.
The “Surfin’ Bird” is none other than the classic chicken sandwich, served on a toasted kaiser roll and with some basil walnut pesto.
We saved the “Teenage Lobotomy” for last. If you’re a vegetarian, carb conscious or simply enjoy veggies or something different, you will lose your mind over this burger, hence the name- it’s a meatless patty with hummus dressing, served on a sesame seed bun.
You can wash down all this deliciousness with your drink of choice or with some “Guinness” beer. Their fruity drinks are ok, but not their specialty, so you might want to stick to beer or the “classics” you can’t go wrong with: “vodka and tonic” or “gin and tonic” or straight up shots.
