The Basics:  Clubbing in Los Angeles can be such an experience… let it be good or bad, you won’t be disappointed. Now when it comes to the Hollywood nightlife, attitude and pretentiousness are two things that come to mind. Yes, all the queens and the pompous britches come out at night throwing attitude and labels like there’s no tomorrow.  Not all clubs are the same, following my parents’ advice (“¿Como sabes si algo te va a gustar o no si no le das chance?”), I decided to give this new club a chance.

“The Kress” is hard to miss… it’s a huge building with neon lights enveloping the name.  The Kress serves both as a restaurant and a club… however my friends and I we decided to ditch the apparently pricey Sushi-bar and the rest of their food for some good old fashioned tacos at a local lonchera.

If you don’t want to worry about finding parking, which is always an issue in Los Angeles especially during weekend nights, Valet Parking is the way to go… $15 bucks, but you’ll spare yourself all the drama of having to deal with finding parking and shiz like that.

Since it’s a rather new joint, it’s going through its “popular phase”, which means many celebutards will be making their way into the place.

While we were waiting to go in, we witnessed how a horde of paparazzi made their way through as Mathew Perry (Friends’ Chandler) made his way out of the restaurant part of the joint.

Once inside “The Kress”, we were fortunate enough to get VIP access and all that shiz.  The place is amazing… breathtakingly beautiful, like no other club in Los Angeles.  There are several dance floors spinning dance, electro, a little bit of house, Top 40’s, hip-hop, and some 80’s and indie.

The drinks are alright, but too pricey and not strong enough. The crowd is so-so… it’s definitely not the place for singles to hook-up. Everyone is engulfed in their own little world- some chatting and drinking, some just standing looking pretty and trying not to sweat, and others dancing like their life depended on it (including yours truly).

The highlight of the night came when one of the DJ’s was spinning a set that included the most bizarre yet awesome versions of songs from Hot Chip to The Hives, and it was in between that set that Sussie 4’s “Can U Feel Me” made it’s way through, and the crowd just went bananas… who knew?!

Overall, going to “The Kress” it was like most clubbing experiences- fun, fun, fun!  It’s definitely worth checking out. Don’t get discouraged by the sometimes long lines and stuff like that. There is lots of attitude, many pompous and pretentious beach blonde overly tanned bitches trying to give you attitude and what not… but there’s only one thing to do- take a sip of your drink, don’t give a shit about their high-and-mighty mind-set and just enjoy!
