The Basics: Hollywood is the epitome of money, success, fame and glamour. Over the years, the perception and of these aspects shift and evolve, sometimes for the good, sometimes not so much. A clear example of that can be seen in the nightlife. Nowadays wherever you go in Hollywood (clubs and lounges alike) you’ll find people flaunting money, craving success and fame and trying to be glamorous- all coated with a whole lot of attitude and pretentiousness. If you’re a bit of a nostalgic but don’t want to deal with any of the pretentiousness and drama, yet you want to have a grand time, check out “The Dresden Room”, you’ll literally get a piece of Old Hollywood.
From the décor to the ambiance, “The Dresden Room” will transport you to Old Hollywood.
“The Dresden Room” is a restaurant/ lounge combo famous for its meat galore, spiffy drinks, and their live music. This venue definitely strays away from current trends and embraces Hollywood’s golden age, thus making you feel like you stepped back in time once you’re in there.
Of course a huge part of “The Dresden Room” is their live music courtesy of jazz musicians Marty & Elaine- they definitely set the mood, the tone and a movie-like ambiance.
What to drink: You want it, they got it. The bartenders at “The Dresden Room” stick to good old customer service and if they don’t know how to make a drink, they’ll research it and make it for you in less than ten minutes, best of all- they are not that expensive (for Hollywood anyway), and they’re very well made. Kudos to their “Cadillac Margarita”, definitely a must.
Drink up, eat up
“The Dresden Room” is not only known for its live music and Old Hollywood ambiance, they also serve some really good food. However, it’s a bit on the pricey side… so if you’re just lounging, you might wanna skip the entrees and just grab some appetizers.
You can never go wrong with the “calamari fritti”, the “mozzarella marinara” is so cheesily delicious que está como para chuparse los dedos.
Another great choice is the “shrimp cocktail”- not only is it fresh, but they’re quite generous with the amount of shrimp in them.
Of course you can’t call it a night without trying their “peach melba”, it will definitely be a highlight.
