The Basics: If you’re looking for joint to call “your own”, “The Continental Room” is the place you’ll want to become a regular at. It has been around for quite some time now, and is still standing strong. “The Continental Room” is cracking every day of the week, there’s always something going on- it’s quite an eclectic joint as well. Depends on the night you choose to go you’ll get a taste of Top 40, pop, dance, hip-hop, R&B, 80’s, soul, dub, indie rock, electro, even salsa, live music and an Elvis impersonator on Wednesday nights. “The Continental Room” is a 60’s type lounge with a speakeasy vibe with warm and inviting vintage décor rich with red, orange and yellow undertones- it definitely sets the mood and gets things going.
Even though it’s a small joint, you’ll be surprised by the amount of people it can hold. It can get packed at times, especially the tiny dance floor.
The crowd is quite eclectic as well- a bunch of twenty-somethings and then the older crowd. Even thought it’s a relatively young crowd, beware of the cougars (and silver foxes) on the prowl.
What to drink: “The Continental Room” specializes in mixed drinks… not the ideal place for beer on tap. However, you’ll find the bartenders at this joint can make every martini known to man and then some more. The drinks are fairly spiked and reasonably priced. If you’re in a “shot” mood, skip the regular Patrón shots and try either the “Cactus Cooler” or the “Chocolate Cake”.
