The Basics: The “Taix 321 Lounge” is part of the “Taix French Restaurant”, which has been an Echo Park staple for a while now- F.Y.I.; it has been around for several years.  The “Taix 321 Lounge” has a great laidback vibe.  It’s separate from the restaurant section, which makes it easy to spot and makes it more comfortable, it’s a total different feel from the restaurant.  Even thought its décor is somewhat old school it still manages to come off as fresh and inviting.  The “Taix 321 Lounge” is a relatively large, cool and dark space that usually packs up with a rather interesting and interesting crowd from all walks of life.

The “Taix 321 Lounge” is a relaxed place to chill with either a large group or a couple of friends, it could work as a romantic escapade, but it’s not recommended, you might as well just stick to the “Taix Restaurant” for that.

This joint hosts live music acts throughout the week, so you can also check out some interesting local talent while you’re chill-axing and boozing it up.

What to drink: If you’re into martinis and mixed drinks, they have a vast selection so your favorite drink is almost guaranteed. The “Taix 321 Lounge” has a little bit of everything for everyone- from $20-$500 wine bottles to beer on tap.

What to eat: Lounge/ bar food is always questionable; fortunately for you, this is not the case.  The food directly comes from the “Taix Restaurant”, whose menu is filled with French-tinged delicacies.

Now, if you’re on a budget, you might want to skip their appetizers and definitely their entrees.  See, food at this joint is rather overprized.

The “Blanc de poulet grille ‘Jon’”- which is basically grilled chicken breast with grainy mustard, capers and onion butter sauce.  The onion butter sauce and the mustard concoction where rather tasty, however the chicken breast was on the dry/ blah side.

“Macaroni gratin”- French style macaroni and cheese with imported cheese. It has a creamy texture, nothing out of this world but the imported French emmental cheese does give it a distinct flavor.

Even though food is pretty blah (and expensive), dessert is a bit more affordable and tasty. Their “Créme Brûlée” is right on, the “chocolate mousse” is sweet enough to give you cavities but you won’t mind- with only a taste you’ll feel like you died and went to chocolate heaven, and everyone knows that there is no better and sweeter high than a chocolate induced high.

You can’t leave “Taix” without trying their “peach tarte” covered in caramel.  The perfect buttery tart crust is filled with fresh peaches, covered in caramel and topped with ice cream to balance things out.

Dessert, booze, live entertainment and a chill ambiance, what else do you need?
