The Basics: Si lo que quieres es relajarte después de un día largo y estresante en la chamba, you don’t have to drive all the way over to Hollywood, Downtown L.A. or even Long Beach for that matter, there’s a cool hang out place closer than you think. Se trata de “Spin Lounge”, situado nada más y nada menos que en Uptown Whittier. Sure, Whittier is certainly not known for having chic hang-out spots and a posh nightlife… al parecer eso está cambiando.
“Spin Lounge” is a relatively new owner-operated joint that slowly but steadily has been gaining momentum and a steady clientele.
Even though it’s a small spot, “Spin Lounge” has proven to be a nice local lounge to chillax not only thanks to its simple yet sophisticated monochromatic décor, but also thanks to the fact that there are all kinds of music spinning and they have a banging “Happy Hour” that will make even the grumpiest ogre happy.
What to drink: At “Spin Lounge” they don’t have a specialty drink per se. Tienen de todo un poco, para todos los gustos. They have a pretty decent menu featuring wine, beer, and mixed drinks, plus a fairly decent sangria. However, the surprise of the night came with their “fruity beer” selection, even non-beer drinkers will find them quite delectable. The “Blueberry Lager” is a good choice to get the party started.
What to eat: Although finger-food is apparently their main forte, the appetizers at “Spin Lounge” are just alright. Their fries are pretty blah and a tad bland and while their fried calamari is crisp and munchable, it’s quite generic.
Their sliders on the other hand, are up there with the best. And even though there’s nothing innovative about them, they’re made almost to perfection. Bite-sized mini-burgers never tasted better… y acompañadas por una chela fría saben aún mejor.
Now, if you’re hungry and finger-food is just not enough para calmarte el hambre, their chicken philly sandwiches are not bad, or you can also try their chicken tacos.
