Actualmente cuentan con establecimientos all over Europe, the Middle East, y en los United States.
“Le Pain Quotidien” can be roughly translated from the Frech to “the daily bread”, and that is exactly what this restaurant has to deliver in a nutshell.
While you can enjoy any meal at “Le Pain Quotidien”, te caerá mucho mejor una visita durante el desayuno, brunch o almuerzo.
Como era de esperarse, cuentan con una amplia selección de pan and baked goodies, los baguettes are definitely to die for- recién salidos del horno, calientitos y hechos con productos orgánicos (just like the rest of their food).
Breaking the norm
Other than the food, otra cosa que separa a “Le Pain Quotidien” de otros establecimientos, es el ambiente y su communal table.
Si bien cuentan con las típicas single/ doulbe tables, you don’t get the whole experience if you don’t eat at the communal table. El nombre lo dice todo, es una mesa gigante where everybody eats with everyone- like big happy family. Es una buena forma de conocer gente and get a better idea of what to order.
Si eres tímido or a bit of a sociopath, eating here is a great way to step out of your shell. Everyone is nice and cool, plus the staff is as friendly as it can get.
Appetizing appetizers
While trying to figure out how which appetizers to order, we were immediately drawn to two options: a cheese platter and a Mediterranean platter. We were about to go for the cheese platter since it came with a wide variety of cheeses and bread; however, since we enjoy a glass of wine to go along with our “cheese & crackers” and there is no alcohol served at “Le Pain Quotidien”, we decided to go for the “Mediterranean Platter”.
Although we had no idea what half of the stuff in that platter was, aún así lo ordenamos. Lucky for us, resultó ser una muy buena opción. Todo en el “Mediterranean Platter” está como para chuparse los dedos, but the baba ganoush was especially delectable.
Sharing is caring
The secret to a complete and yummy meal is to share… this tip not only comes in handy when eating at “Le Pain Quotidien”, pero en general.
En esta ocasión éramos un total de tres personas, ya después de unos cuantos dimes y diretes, we all agreed on ordering: the “ham tartine”, the “chicken curry tartine” y los “Belgian waffles”.
No te dejes engañar por los nombres… cuando ví “tartine” en el menú, I was like, what? Turns out it’s just a fancy schmancy name for a sandwich-looking thingy. En escencia es un sandwich, but at a whole different level.
Después de probar el “ham tartine” te quedarán pocas ganas de regresar al mismo “sándwich de jamón” that you usually have. The “ham tartine” is served with three kinds of mustard and an enticing assortment of garnishes, including olives, pickles, greens, and even sundried tomatoes. The “chicken curry tartine” on the other hand aunque tiene muchas especias, tiene un buen sabor.
Ahora, los “Belgian waffles” merecen un premio- they’re as fluffy as can be, yet with a touch of crispiness, acompañados por fresh berries and powdered sugar- they’re sweet enough to give you cavities.
Hard to resist
Para cerrar con broche de oro, and as if we hadn’t consumed enough food already, decidimos probar las “French Cream Donuts”, las cuales nos estaban llamando a gritos desde que entramos por primera vez al establecimiento.
They’re sinfully delicious. El relleno es simplemente de lo mejor. Por lo regular the cream fillings turn out to be blah, that’s not the case at “Le Pain Quotidien”… they give Krispy Kreme a run for their money.
“Le Pain Quotidien” es una buena opción si lo que quieres es comida saludable and some really good baked goodies. Para el local más cercano a ti visita: www.painquotidien.com
