Hot Wings Café: Irresistibly Good

By December 10, 2008Food & Drink

Hot Wings CafeIf all your chicken wings experience consists of consuming the ones you order with your pizza (let it be Pizza Hut, Domino’s or even Little Caesars), then you need to come out from hiding.  While those wings are ok and good enough to quench your thirst for spicy buffalo chicken cutlets, they’re far from the real deal.  Truth of the matter is you haven’t really had authentic chicken wings until you make a stop at “Hot Wings Café”. Now, the drive might be a turn off since it’s located all the way in Glendale, BUT it’s totally worth it.  Forget Red Bull, if you really want wings, head over to “Hot Wings Café”.

Easy breezy

It won’t take a brain surgeon and several research hours to figure out the menu at “Hot Wings Café” since it’s so simple and to the point.  Their forte is of course the chicken wings. Unlike other chicken wings joints that serve a gazillion of flavored wings, the folks at “Hot Wings Café” keep things rather simple with only your choice of mild, medium or extra spicy wings.

Fortunately, wings are not the only thing being served at this place. They have all sorts of unhealthy yet scrumptious fried goodies.

Enjoy…

Even though the place is very casual and it’s lacking in the ambiance/ atmosphere department, you will certainly not miss it once you start eating.  “Hot Wings Café” is one of those joints that are just chill hang out places with a simplistic take and without distracting décor. Looks-wise, it’s pretty blah and basic: booths, tables, a couple of random paintings and that’s about it.  Oddly enough, the setting doesn’t seem to affect anyone.  If anything it gives it a more relaxed vibe.

One thing you must know about the “Hot Wings Café” is that they have superb service.  The staff is friendly, efficient and quick- even during rush hour.

Fast!

The orders are quick to come out, which is surprising and unexpected since the place is rather busy.

My friends and I decided to go for the medium and the extra spicy wings, an order of fried zucchini, onion rings, curly fries and coleslaw salad.

The wings are just whoa!  They will literally leave you speechless.  The meatiness of the wings and the crispiness of the skin soaked in the sauce make these wings a delightful and flavorful eat.

While both medium and extra spicy wings were good, the ultimate prize goes to the extra spicy ones- they’re extra hot but not atomic.

extra spicy wingsThe wings come with various dips- the oh so classic ranch, blue cheese, and even beef dip.  You can never go wrong with the ranch- in this case it was homemade, which made it even better.  Now the beef dip— eek! You might want to skip that one.

The zucchini was surprisingly good- crispy yet not too greasy and definitely not mushy even after it cooled down.

We were told the onion rings where quite popular.  They are fresh and crispy; they have a distinct flavor and texture which makes them a great side order.

And of course, the coleslaw salad- an important side dish to balance out all the fried foods.  It was good, but nothing to rave about.

“Hot Wings Café” is a great place to get your wings fix.  While the drive can be a tad long, you can always make an evening out of it and stroll around Brand Blvd., there’s always something to do.

Chicken wings will never taste the same way after you eat from “Hot Wings Café”.
